A4-235 (cn 235) Caribou A4-235 (in 38 Squadron markings - rendered invisible in this silhouette view) on the 35 Squadron apron after sunset, at RAAF Townsville in 1983. The tail of A4-164 is also visible, as well as the Townsville Control Tower at left. I also photographed these aircraft (pus two more) at the same location earlier in the day. I thought that the tropical Queensland sunset that evening was superb. A4-235 ended her flying days at Amberley about 1999, wingless and tail-less in White 'United Nations' livery. |

This aircraft (Del: April 1957), in yellow/black 2(F)OCU colours and 'Marksmen' Aerobatic Team logo, was photographed the day Wg Cdr Vance Drummond was lost in one-month-old Mirage IIIO(A) A3-77 in the ocean off Newcastle. This Sabre was mounted on a plinth at Raymond Terrace NSW, after she was retired in Oct 1976. |

A3-19 (cn 19) The Deltas Mirage Aerobatic Team trails white smoke in 'Delta' Formation, under a dark cloud at Williamtown in 1971. The Team, led by CO 77Squadron (Wg Cdr Bill Simmonds) in CO's ship A3-19, was practising for the imminent RAAF 50th Anniversary Air Displays. The Team had a Naming competition. I offered 'MATRAs' (Mirage Aerobatic Team RAAF Anniversary), which was too similar to a French missile makers name. The 'Deltas' won. (Mirage IIIs are flying deltas). |

VH-PCM / A94-983 (cn CA27-83) This taxying RAAF Avon Sabre is 'Outlined' by the then new Australian Airlines Boeing 737-376 VH-TAH. The 'Sword' (Delivered in Nov 1957) was transferred to the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) in Dec 1971, but was returned to the RAAF in 1978. She is shown in the colours of the 75 Squadron 'Black Diamonds' Aerobatic Team. ( I think the Pilot on this occasion was 'Higgy'.) Early in 2006, the aircraft was allotted to the Temora Aviation Museum for restoration to Flight Status (In July 2009, as VH-IPN). |

MM54552 / 10 (cn 6773/168/AD019) Frecce Tricolori. I tried to follow the group from left to the right. When the oposite group came in view I took the picture and this is what it became. The solo pilot tried to avoid a crash against the control tower by pulling over the two groups. Instead he crashed into them. |
