73-0108 (cn 21/B003) TAC 1 was the first Eagle to be delivered to an operational unit in this case for pilot and maintenance training. Only two F-15Bs were on the ramp this soon after delivery. This is the short lived "Air Superiority Blue" paint scheme. TAC 1 is now a gate guard at Luke. |

73-0108 (cn 21/B003) Gosh, this is older than I am! Although the aircraft is now preserved at Luke, it still looks good in the 'Air Superiority Blue' scheme. |

63-7550 / LA (cn 584) Another variation on the 58 TFTW Candy Cane Air Force's D-Day Invasion Stripes was this orange number of the 550th TFTS commander's jet. Here it is seen returning from the very first Red Flag exercise, complete with "kill" markings, flown by the 311th TFTS Commander, L/C Barry Howard. |

63-7584 / LA (cn 636) B/G Fred Haeffner's 58th TFTW sported some of the most colorful markings of the post-Vietnam era; 584 was his jet. One final shot of 584, now as "The Adidis", with its D-Day Invasion Stripes applied. Done nomininally for air-to-air identification during dog-fight training, it really just looked cool. As a group, these aircraft were known as "The Candy Cane Air Force" on the 58th's 1976 Christmas Card. Note the CATM-9E on the left inboard pylon. |

63-7426 / LA (cn 371) The 58 TFTW Candy Cane Air Force 426 TFTS commander's jet was adorned with Sabre bands. Here it is seen taxiing back in after a mission with its parachute door open. Also note that the "arrowhead" reinforcing plates have been added to its stabilators--a post Vietnam modification. |

73-0103 / LA (cn 46/A037) The 58th TFTW F-15As were also part of the Candy Cane Air Force. This one, with the orange and white invasion stripes, transferred from the 555th to the 461st TFTS not long after this photo was taken. The airplanes in the background are interesting too! |
