N524VA (cn 3204) Qantas 747-400 (VH-OEI) is seen going around, climbing past us in the A319. We were performing a parallel ("side-by") approach to Runway 28 in San Francisco (SFO) when apparently the heavy couldn't stay behind us and had to go around. It was the most spectacular thing I have ever seen from inside an airplane! |

RP-C7250 (cn 779) Dangerously low, this ATR was actually in level flight when i viewed my sequence of shots, the white perimeter fence seen is approximately 3 feet in height, this aircraft only just cleared the fence to which i did not think at this moment would be possible. A Zest airline aircraft hit this fence only a couple of months earlier in a similar approach with persons injured on board. |

Too far away and too fast for your own eyes, you'd never be able to see this: The tire that's already made contact with terra firma is spinning like mad while on the front one you can clearly read the tire brand, it's amazing! N509UA (cn 24763/284) With LH 744 D-ABVE. The two planes appear to be touching! The 757 is on final for 28L while the 747 is for 28R. The runways are 750 ft apart, so there is still plenty of room between them. Incidentally, Lufthansa 455 is seen here returning to SFO due to an oil leak and eventual shutdown of the number 2 engine. Note rudder is deflected to the right compensating for the failed engine on the left side. |

ZS-SAU (cn 22971/578) WOW !!!!!!!! What more can I say. Only SAA can do it this big and outstanding. Today our President was inaugurated and SAA was asked to do a display. So SAA did it 3 times bigger and better by flying in formation using 2 x B747-300's and 1 x A340-600. Very ironic as well as the leading A340 is replacing the older B747's in the fleet. This Saturday SAA's classics will also fly its final revenue flight. So indeed appropiate for the classics to take part in this great display. Well done SAA !!!!!!!!!!! |
