PH-XRY (cn 33463/1292) FEB 25th was just one of THESE picture-perfect days that are so very rare around here. We received a ton of fresh, powdery snow during the night and the cloud cover was torn open the following morning, allowing Transavia 6833 from Rotterdam to land instead of diverting to Munich. Here the flight is seen on the apron by its own, framed by the jaw-dropping, snow-covered mountain range in the background. I have never encountered the same conditions anymore in the past two years. |

OV-103 (cn OV-103) "Discovery" departs high bay #4 for STS-133 mission (38th & final). Last time she will do this if plans do not change..again. The shuttle stack's (orbiter + external tank + 2 solid rocket boosters) height: 56.14 m (184.2 feet) tall. It sits on the mobile launch platform (MLP) which is 7.6 m (25 feet) tall. The MLP rest on the transporter which is approx. 6.1 m (20 feet) tall. Total height = 69.84 m (223.13 feet). The United Space Alliance workers at the different levels show the scale of this vehicle. |

N787EX (cn 40691/2) Dreamliner 002 doing crosswind testing at Keflavik this morning. The light was atrocious, but the winds were 25 gusting 30 knots, which is not as much as for the A380, when they were almost constantly blowing 45 knots. This shows the plane crabbing into runway 20 with the wind from the east. One can see the runway marker line like the aircraft is landing across it. |

On any given night one can get caught up in the excitement of observing a myriad of Asian/Pacific carriers as they move about the airport. Until the Gulfstream 650 will receive its certification, the Citation X will be the fastest business jet available with a top speed of Mach 0.92. During test flights for certification purposes the Cessna pilots allegedly even made it above Mach 1.0. Without a doubt one stunning piece of engineering. |

This small airfield became operational on the 28th April 1941. The RAF flew Spitfires from here during WWII and was decommissioned in April 1946. These days it is used for much more leisurely pursuits such as the Cornish Parachute Centre and private flying. |

Commander Alan Poindexter is manually flying her to the touchdown point for a dead stick landing at somewhere between 214 to 226 miles per hour. A drag chute will slow her down to wheel stop.
