159619 / AJ-105 (cn 166/DR-9) VF-31 "Tomcatters" jet, AJ-105 is directed along the flight deck of CVN-71, in preparation for another sortie over Iraq. USS Theodore Roosevelt and Carrier Air Wing Eight were deployed during 2005, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. This was to be the last combat cruise by the final two Tomcat units, VF-31 & VF-213.

164341 / AJ-112 (cn 616/D-21) VF-31 "Tomcatters" jet, AJ-112 on finals to runway 05R. This Tomcat was the final F-14 to launch from an Aircraft Carrier (USS Theodore Roosevelt) on July 28, 2006, bringing an end to all Tomcat operations at sea, and closing a chapter in US Navy history.

This shot was taken just a few days before the Swordsmen finally said good bye to the mighty Tomcat and began transition to the newer F/A-18F Super Hornet. 161860 is now a resident at the Aviation Museum of Kentucky, Lexington.
