L2940 This Skua landed on a frozen Norwegian lake and the cockpit area was set alight by the crew. The aircraft subsequently sank into the lake and was recovered in 1974. It is preserved at the Fleet Air Arm Museum in an incredible underwater diorama in 'as found' condition - no major restoration necessary! Near the camera is the starboard wing, the port is behind it. Front fuselage and engine is to the left, with the rear fuselage area in the distance. |
