Australia - Queensland, September 1, 2007
Remark
Photographer
A8-*** RAAF F-111 performs a spectacular high level pass dump & burn over Brisbane City, amazing how much diffused light is produced from the flame to create an almost eerie glow over the city skyline.

General Dynamics F-111C Aardvark
Avalon (Geelong) (AVV / YMAV)
Australia - Victoria, March 24, 2007
Remark
Photographer
A8-144 (cn D1-20) A 6 Sqn F-111C does the famous 'Dump and Burn' while orbiting the airfield at the 2007 Australian International Airshow. The 'swing-wings' are swept to 72 degrees in this front view. The flame has illuminated both horizontal stabilizers, and wisps of vapour are visible at the wingtips. The atmosphere was electric - lit up by the huge trailing flame. The expanding burnt fuel is visible as heat haze behind the flame.

NASA
Rockwell Space Shuttle
Off-Airport - Kennedy Space Center
USA - Florida, July 26, 2005
Remark
Photographer
OV-103 (cn OV-103) 10:39:10 AM. STS-114 "Return to Flight" Mission begins the Roll Maneuver. Note the increadibly long flame from the Solid Rocket Boosters which provide 71.4% of the power ( 3,300,000 pounds thrust each). The vehicle begins a combined roll, pitch and yaw maneuver that positions the orbiter head down, with wings level and aligned with the launch pad. The orbiter flies upside down during the ascent phase. This orientation, together with trajectory shaping, establishes a trim angle of attack favorable for aerodynamic loads and crew ground reference.

McDonnell Douglas MD-11
Zurich (- Kloten) (ZRH / LSZH)
Switzerland, November 1997
Remark
Photographer
PP-SPL (cn 48745/596) I have looked on the Terminal B at Zürich how this plane rotate from Rwy 16! During the take-off, I heard 3 or 4 very loud bangs and then I saw the fire which came out of Engine 2. I took my camera and made a shot. What luck to see the flame because she was only visible for a few seconds! Please check out the original picture by clicking here.
