We are about half way between Long Beach, CA and Albuqureque, NM. What a beautiful aircraft....Thanks to the Gulfstream staff and Craig O'Neil for allowing me on this flight. Also thanks to Blaine Hammond for letting me hang out in the left seat! UPDATE...Aircraft is on the return leg from Albuqureque, NM. We never landed there just turned around and headed back. |

N489HA (cn 55002/5003) Kai Tak Airport might be long gone, but Honolulu Airport has its version of the famous Kai Tak IGS runway 13 approach. During "Kona Wind" (southerly) operations at HNL, all arriving airliners are defaulted to the LDA/DME runway 26L, a non-precision approach with the localizer offset by 45° from runways 26L and 26R. Taking you past Diamond Head, Waikiki Beach and downtown Honolulu before the final turn toward the runway, this approach is always a thrill to both the pilots and passengers. N489HA is pictured making the final turn on the circle-to-land segment for runway 26R, after completing the LDA/DME 26L approach. |

N905NA / 376 (cn 20107/86) The world's largest and expensive biplane heading for her flyby of the Shuttle Landing Facility before going to DC. The sun has just begun to peak from behind a cloud hence there is a glint on the fuselages. Directly under the tail of the SCA is the construction for the new home of Atlantis. The complex is the KSC visitor center and the rockets of the 50 and 60s can be seen in the rocket garden. I dedicate this to all the general public who showed up at 5am to see this sight! |

The problem is that I had to wait for half an hour in the sun, with more than 30º C holding a 400mm lenses. Surely not easy but at the end of the day the effort pays out fine. PH-BFG / FG-003 (cn 24517/782) The "City of Guayaquil" is seen a hundred feet above the world famous Maho Beach and the sparkling clear waters of Sunset Bay chasing its shadow to the runway. This place takes photography to a whole new level when you can literally go for a swim or sip on a bottle of Carib while waiting for an aircraft. It's quite obvious that I was not the only one with a camera around here, but this young woman certainly appreciated being part of the photograph more than I would have. |
