N922FR / 922 (cn 2012) From Gravelly Point Park... I've been holding on to this one for a while but it is probably my favorite of all my aviation photos. 35 second exposure as Frontier departs runway 1 and climbs over the docks as evident by the red nav light, the strobe, beacon, and the landing lights streaking through the frame. In the background you can see some Andrews AFB traffic on the left, and to the right, a little standing lenticular cloud is beginning to form. |

Stayed a little late to try some timed exposures and I was happy with this one. Normally on a hot summer evening the winds are out of the southwest and they are arriving 27, but here a RWY 9 departure departs long eastbound into the night. Unknown aircraft/airline, just as I was about to turn and look, someone tapped me on the shoulder to see what I was doing in the dark. 10s f/11 ISO 100 |

G-**** After the 05:30am wake-up call and the tube ride to Hatton Cross underground station I was able to photograph this triple seven on final approach to Heathrow's 27L about 15mins after sunrise - pretending to be a firefly. While I assume most viewers didn't buy it, the effort was good enough for me as I got to capture the scene. The sun is nicely aligned in between the main gear and the beams of light breaking through the edges of the flaps complete the motive. |
