USA - California, March 15, 2009
Remark
Photographer
9V-SGD (cn 560) Soaring over Sepulveda Blvd, the nonstop flight from the Singapore finally comes to an end on this beautiful day. There are quite a few icons in this photo that well represent Los Angeles International Airport. Visible is the very famous LAX sign which greets arriving passengers who have travelled for many miles. The famous In & Out burger joint at LAX, a fellow spotter, an LAPD car, and the clear blue sky also sum up a great day of spotting at this exciting airport.

Remark
Photographer
HB-JMF (cn 561) Mike Fox as LX243 from Muscat and Dubai gently touching down on runway 34 a good ten minutes late. This morning was just spectacular in all matters: Clear blue sky with some strong winds making those approaches even more spectacular and of course a perfect 90° sunlight illuminating the fuselage. Welcome home! You can even see the Alps in the background

HB-JMF (cn 561) 1600 pix for full detail! I was even able to read off the tire brand! A340s tend to takeoff late and climb slower than the other big jets allowing this great opportunity for a closeup shot.

Emirates
Airbus A340-541
Melbourne - Tullamarine (MEL / YMML)
Australia - Victoria, May 10, 2009
Remark
Photographer
A6-ERG (cn 608) That object flapping on the lower part of the fuselage is part of some masking tape covering up a potentially fatal incident. At 23:11 on 20th March this a/c had a tailstrike during the takeoff run. And it was an extremely long run. So long it wiped out some runway lights, instrument landing antenae and just cleared the boundary fence. After takeoff it circled Port Phillip Bay to dump fuel while the cabin was filling with smoke. It landed safely with its 225 people on board. Very nearly a major tragedy.

RP-C3434 (cn 196) Onboard PR113 (3 hours late departing Manila) we witness the sunrise on May 9th. In a few hours we will cross over the International Date Line and travel back to the 8th. The sun would set prior to our arrival into LAX. It was amazing to watch an entire day pass over the span of only a few hours.
