9M-MRI (cn 28416/155) About 10 seconds after liftoff from runway 19R something happens with the left engine. Alot of smoke and fragments of metal and other material falls down on the runway. At first the pilots don't get any indications in the cockpit and plan to go on to Kuala Lumpur. Then we decide to call Arlanda duty officer to make sure that they have noticed the pieces from the engine on the runway. Shortly after that the pilots requests fueldump and return to ARN safely. MM54552 / 10 (cn 6773/168/AD019) Frecce Tricolori. I tried to follow the group from left to the right. When the oposite group came in view I took the picture and this is what it became. The solo pilot tried to avoid a crash against the control tower by pulling over the two groups. Instead he crashed into them. |

9V-SWO (cn 34580/708) Final Approach into Changi after a 3 1/2 hour flight from HKG. A storm had just passed through the City State and the sun had just set. A poignant shot for me as this would be my last approach into Singapore for a while, as three days later I would leave Singapore for a new life in Los Angeles, California. However just as she came on short final, the sun came out setting her in beautiful evening light . . . WOW! N524VA (cn 3204) Qantas 747-400 (VH-OEI) is seen going around, climbing past us in the A319. We were performing a parallel ("side-by") approach to Runway 28 in San Francisco (SFO) when apparently the heavy couldn't stay behind us and had to go around. It was the most spectacular thing I have ever seen from inside an airplane! |
