RA-86140 (cn 51483211102) No more runway left = Must rotate! Look at where the 1000 ft marker sign and where the plane is! One heart-stopping takeoff! The front gear of the plane actually got up before the '1' marker but the body remains heavy. I think the pilots know exactly where to rotate. The Ilyushin also kicked up a large sandstorm on the beach and it was barely above it after finally airborne. IL86 is such a beast! [Nikon D2x, High speed crop mode] |

We had just passed through the rainy season, which gave us an incredible view of the coral reflection. Those clouds were also affected by the coral reflection. Isn't that amazing? N621DL (cn 22911/112) N621DL followed by LOT's SP-LPF, then a Lufthansa A340, an Aer Lingus A330 and so goes the line up. Also tucked back there is a 747 and the DL MD-80 can be seen in the distance. But you are only viewing a portion of the queue line which loops around the runway and back around JFK's terminals. The dog days of summer at JFK with the Empire State Building in the distance. The culprit? Weather delays have plagued the tri-state area this evening. |

Looking down at the cargo ramp the ground crew of "ABX179" (N957AX) were still loading up this baby 9 as a cold front was moving in on TUL from the north. "UPS 741" has its engines running and is ready to taxi to 36R to get out before the Tstrms move in. In the distance a AA MD-80 is slowing down on 36R after arriving from DFW. [20D/18-55] |
