The airplane was successfully ditched in the Hudson River and all 155 passengers and crew survived. In this picture, there is evidence of a bird strike on the windscreen along with damage sustained to the nosecone from the rescue boats and ferries. |

PT-LME (cn 551-0023) The Citation carried out a visual approach to the Sorocaba Airport. After landing the crew lost control of the aircraft. It overran the runway, went down a drop off and skidded into a street in the Vila Helena quarter. The airplane collided with four houses and three vehicles and ended up in a small field. The crash site elevation was 25 meters lower than the runway elevation. The aircraft was substantially damaged and the pilot was fatally injured. |

JX273 / F On the night of 12May1944 this Catalina of 302 FTU, 17 (Training) Group, Coastal Command, on a training flight from Oban with a full load of depth charges, crashed on high ground on the Hebridean island of Vatersay following a compass failure. 3 of the 9 crew were killed. Recovery crews dragged the wreckage down the hill and took much of it away but amazingly, some of it is still there. JX273 was a Mk1b built in 1943 by Boeing in Vancouver. |

EC-DEG (cn 46962/238) Rest of the airplane after the crash... It's very impressive how big the wing and tail are. I always get shocked with the size of the tail engine... I could never imagine how bad and scared that people you can see in the pic would feel being there. |
