Named after a Klingon spacecraft from Star Trek, the Bird of Prey was built to test 'specific' and 'breakthrough' stealth technologies, along with the rapid-prototyping techniques developed by Boeing Phantom Works. |

93-1087 / WM (cn 1020/AV-20) They don't call it the flying wing for nothing. The "Spirit of Pennsylvania" climbs out of Palmdale to fly over the Rose Parade. What a great way to start the new year. |

N791LM (cn 0001) I was at the Blackbird Air Park when suddenly this black project hybrid airship took off. It has been secretly built by Skunkworks as a heavy-load carrier. To gain more span to act like a wing, the P-791 is three pressurized lobes joined together. It uses four air cushions as landing gear, located on the outer lobes. It appears to have four propellers-two at the tail and two on the sides. A hybrid airship derives most of its lift by lighter-than-air gas, the rest by its shape and span. |

N87KA (cn 11) My 3000th photo on airliners.net. Midnight at Kenmore Air's base. Frequent shipping movements to the neighbouring gravel depot made this long-exposure shot quite a challenge. Three hours of trying resulted in this nice tack-sharp six-minute exposure. |

F-BHCD (cn 6706) Built in 1945 and delivered new to the Royal Air Force as HG721. Later registered as G-ALGB. Now on display at the Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace, complete with a parachutist. I'm really quite surprised by the thinness of the cables suspending it from the ceiling. |
