Pan American World Airways - Pan Am
Boeing 747-121
Sydney - Kingsford Smith International (Mascot) (SYD / YSSY)
Australia - New South Wales, October 7, 1970
Remark
Photographer
N741PA (cn 19648/17) Pan Am's 'Clipper Kit Carson' makes a historic First daytime touch-down on Rwy 16 at Sydney's new International Airport. Staff arranged stands so the public could see the First Boeing 747 arrival in Australia on 04Oct1970. Pan Am's B747-121 N734PA arrived at night, 9.5 hours late. Crowds turned out three days later when N741PA arrived on time. (Pan Am's First New York to London B747 Flight was on 21Jan1970.) Sydney has now seen the world's First A380 Airline arrival - Singapore Airlines 9V-SKA on 25Oct2007

Air New Zealand
McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30
In Flight
International Airspace, June 16, 1980
Remark
Photographer
ZK-NZQ (cn 46911/189) A rare In-Flight 'Economy' Cabin View (looking forward) in an Air New Zealand DC-10, flying between Sydney and Auckland in 1980. Photo taken (as Flight Attendants served refreshments) when we flew in ZK-NZQ across the Tasman Sea to New Zealand. The previous year ANZ 'sister-ship' ZK-NZP had crashed into Mt Erebus in Antarctica (on 28Nov1979, due to a navigation programming error) with the tragic loss of 257 lives (RIP). That was Flight TE901, the fourteenth ANZ scenic flight to Antarctica.

VH-EAA (cn 22495/505) Qantas Airways First Boeing 747SP-38 (in original livery) dwarfs vehilces in a maintenance hangar at the Qantas Jet Base, Syndey in 1983. Rare image of a Qantas Boeing 747SP undergoing maintenance, including an engine change. This aircraft has an early 'Winged Kangaroo' logo on the tail. Qantas
Boeing 707-338C
In Flight
Australia - New South Wales, February 11, 1974
Remark
Photographer
VH-EBN (cn 18808/404) A rare 1974 low res in-flight cabin view of Qantas Airways' First Boeing 707-338C VH-EBN 'City of Parramatta'. I had boarded VH-EBN at Hong Kong (Kai Tak) for a 1.5 hour hop to Manila in the Philippines (my first flight with Qantas). This photo was taken near the end of the 7.5 hour overnight flight from Manila to Sydney. The aircraft is heading South-East over NSW after sunrise, planned to arrive at Sydney just after the 6.00 AM End of Curfew. Apologies for photo quality. (1/15 sec F2 on 50ASA slide film).
