N624VA (cn 20327/797) Let's see what we got: there is a topless woman lying on the beach, we have a woman whose skirt is blown up by the jet blast and there is a beautiful classic airliner. What more can you ask for? |

Bora Bora! I'm quite happy to have landed there as pilot in command of my rental aircraft. Picture was taken on the 150 nautical miles return leg Bora Bora - Tahiti, after a short sightseeing trip to Tupuai. 25 km in the distance, Tahaa island can be seen. During WWII, the USA built a military base here. The airfield, now 1500 meters long, is was is left of it. |

OV-103 (cn OV-103) "Discovery" on STS-120 to the ISS. Launch time 11:38 a.m. EDT. Approx. T + 00:10 and the NASA Space Shuttle System is accelerating through 797 feet at 992 MPH. The white things falling in the exhaust plume and one floating above the cockpit are disposable cardboard covers of the RCS system. I am using a Canon 1Ds MKII with a 600mm F/4 L IS and a 2X multiplier from a location approx. 5,535 meters from L-39A. |

OV-103 (cn OV-103) 10:39:10 AM. STS-114 "Return to Flight" Mission begins the Roll Maneuver. Note the increadibly long flame from the Solid Rocket Boosters which provide 71.4% of the power ( 3,300,000 pounds thrust each). The vehicle begins a combined roll, pitch and yaw maneuver that positions the orbiter head down, with wings level and aligned with the launch pad. The orbiter flies upside down during the ascent phase. This orientation, together with trajectory shaping, establishes a trim angle of attack favorable for aerodynamic loads and crew ground reference. |
