N524VA (cn 3204) Qantas 747-400 (VH-OEI) is seen going around, climbing past us in the A319. We were performing a parallel ("side-by") approach to Runway 28 in San Francisco (SFO) when apparently the heavy couldn't stay behind us and had to go around. It was the most spectacular thing I have ever seen from inside an airplane! |

It was the American's 767 N330AA. At the time of the explosion, the aircraft engines were running while the plane was parked near to the AA hangar. [Canon 20D + Sigma 50-500] |

RA-86140 (cn 51483211102) No more runway left = Must rotate! Look at where the 1000 ft marker sign and where the plane is! One heart-stopping takeoff! The front gear of the plane actually got up before the '1' marker but the body remains heavy. I think the pilots know exactly where to rotate. The Ilyushin also kicked up a large sandstorm on the beach and it was barely above it after finally airborne. IL86 is such a beast! [Nikon D2x, High speed crop mode] |

As can be seen by the other aircraft there's an obvious sidewind component today to deal with. The Air Malta has left behind an enormous wake as can be seen in the cloud behind it. Spectacular effect to capture and witness. |

After she landed, several other airplanes had to perform a go-around due to a deflated tyre on G-BOAC, while the runway was being checked and cleaned for debris. Only when looking at the photo's at home, I found out that its RH front tyre on the right main landing gear was already deflated and deformed on approach! Looks like the new Michelin NZG tyre performed as advertised and did not blow catastrophically. Photo 3 of 4. |

A6-EDF (cn 007) What a beautiful evening it was! As the giant whale comes into light at a cloudy 'Row, shiny silver sections start glowing in the sun as it glides in on very final approach to runway 27L. Even from this tilted angle the GP7000 engines look still tremendously huge that carry the sleek heavy metal all around safely. It is said this type of engine produces less than 75g of carbon dioxyide emission per passenger and kilometer - almost half of the European target for cars manufactured in 2008. |

Exactly 555 days after the airport Berlin-Tempelhof was closed the former "Zentralflughafen" was opened to the public as "Tempelhof Park". You can walk, ride by bike or skate on both runways and all taxiways. Some spaces are reserved for birds and also three dog runs are surrounded by fences. So far you could use two areas for barbecue. The runway centerline lighting system was removed to prevent the roller skaters from tumbling |

9M-MRI (cn 28416/155) About 10 seconds after liftoff from runway 19R something happens with the left engine. Alot of smoke and fragments of metal and other material falls down on the runway. At first the pilots don't get any indications in the cockpit and plan to go on to Kuala Lumpur. Then we decide to call Arlanda duty officer to make sure that they have noticed the pieces from the engine on the runway. Shortly after that the pilots requests fueldump and return to ARN safely. CS-TKN (cn 624) This month of November had been really good for us spotters, with so many different things coming by!! Not being a different A/C, this one deserved some attention... These pilots were caught in some wind shear, and it was really close to total disaster, since the wing almost touched the ground! You can also see the stress in main landing gear... At that time, there were gusts up to 44 knots of crosswind, and heavy turbulence was reported! I'm glad that everything ended up well.. [Canon 40D + Sigma 120-400 |
