EP-AJI (cn 21507/340) The sole airworthy sample of the type in service of Iranian Air Force. IIAF ordered five of the first nose cargo door equipped 747s in world, when the regime changed after the revolution of 1979. They were serialled 5-8113 to 17, but the last one was cancelled due to the US arms embargo. This fleet of cargo 747s were very useful during the war with Iraq (1980-1988). Ex 5-8115 is seen here before take-off for a flight to Syria. On landing in Damascus, it was fired upon, but it landed safely. |
