N589UA (cn 28707/773) In this overview of United’s terminal 7 we can see a typical early afternoon operation. The oval portion of the terminal was originally built in 1962. Then, 707’s,DC-8’s, and 727’s would power into the gate and parallel park, and then exit the same way. How well I remember it, as my first Airliner flight left from this terminal. It was Oct. 1964 and United just started flying the 727-100 to SFO. As they say, you never forget your first time, and what good memories it brings back. |

N171UA (cn 24322/733) Smoke on! Powerful and smoky departure by this 747 as it takes off on a long flight to Hong Kong. In the back you can see a BA 777 about to touchdown and much farther behind it the faint lights of an A-320. Meanwhile some aircraft are waiting to line up. |

N219UA (cn 30551/318) This is something I've never seen before. Two UA 777's were instructed to position and hold on both 28L and 28R simultaneously. I was hoping they'd drag race down the runway :) But N219UA on 28L was cleared first and N206UA on 28R about 3 minutes later. I got an email from Keith, the ATC on duty at that time. He said that the basic rule at SFO is to never load both runways simultaneously. But both 777's were ready to go and there was no aircraft on final so he could load both runways. |
