Without a doubt, the most beautiful airport setting in the World! The airport was opened during World War II. The small cross runway built by US Air Force can be seen at the lower right. The airport is located on a "Motu". A boat transfer is necessary to get to the main island of Bora Bora. I was very lucky to be able to get this aerial photo after my flight was delayed and I bumped into Tahiti Helicopter pilot who agreed to take me for a ride! Dedicate the photo to my wife, Vicki. The paradise where a thousand years holidays here is never too long for aircraft spotter! On board of KL785 departing from SXM to AMS via CUR. A sharp turn after taking off from runway 10, now the entire Simpson Bay is visible from starboard. Three jetways are vacant to wait afternoon American arrivals and a bit cloud is casting a shadow on 28 end of runway. Two yacht are approaching to Simpson bridge and the Simpson Lagoon is in a peace afternoon. Right above the Maho Beach is Mullet Bay Pond beyond which is French territory. |

TF-KFB / 1040 (cn C0520) The feeling I get while flying a few miles from this amazing scene is really strange! I can have a really good look from 8.000feet just north of Eyjafjallajökull. Meanwhile there is almost no flying in Europe because of this eruption. I get this feeling of awe when looking at this, and I more fully understand how small we are next to our mother nature. It wasn't really powerful at that moment, a little "cloud" is rising there in the middle. An hour later we had it rising to more than 20.000feet. |

This might be one of the most well known airport in the world if you have an experience to play with the Microsoft Flight Simulator. Yes! It is the beautiful Meigs Field!! Sadly, since the airport had already been demolished, there seemed to be no airplane on the tarmac. This photograph was taken shortly after taking off from Chicago O'Hare to Baltimore by UAL782 (B757-222; N526UA). Soon after I took this shot, we were climbing up into the dense clouds. I was lucky enough to capture this image. |
