N448SW (cn 7678) Our local FOX News TV affiliate in Dallas reported in error that this Skywest CRJ's nose gear collapsed just as she was making her right turn toward the terminal after a normal landing, de-cel, and roll-out. She actually landed with the gear up. There were no injuries. Here airport authorities try to figure out what to do next. |

Turning final Rwy 35 at Quito's Mariscal Sucre International Airport. Notice how the runway is not level throughout its entire length. The other side of the runway (Rwy 17) is even more dangerous because the geography around it is such that it creates of a lot of wind shear on short final. This airport is one of the most demanding around the globe for commercial flights, it's easy to understand why... |
