No. 9 Attack Squadron flight over the ancient garden city/palace built by King Kasyapa in 477 - 495 AD. Palace also served as a fortress for the King from invading armies for 20 years of rule. 1500 years later, modern defenders of Sri Lanka fly by! This very ancient edifice is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is also a very popular tourist attraction. Could also turn into a good spotting location as SLAF Air Base Sigirya is about 5 miles away. N752SA (cn 21255/295) Is taking off using the full length of Rwy 32 at Anchorage. Snow on the ground was blown up by the jet blast created by four CF6s. You might also notice that some fractured ice (that I presume) falling down from the main gear are captured. As I was aware that this location makes me backlit, I intended to take this image which was already completed in my mind before I click the shutter. It depicts the grace of flight and majesty of B.747 I would say. We are in 20F allowing us to capture such a crisp image. |

C-GXXB (cn 426) Is washed by the mechanic after all flights were over. It was chilly and clear dark when the lights had just started blinking. Company's Beaver and Turbo Otter were resting together enjoying the beautiful night. The tail and vertical stabilizer of the Twin Otter are a little blurry because the engine was running during 30 sec exposure. Christmas illumination on the office makes this scene more impressive. |
