Remark
Photographer
G-AWNO (cn 20810/222) This 747 was built in 1973 and delivered new to British Airways on 1st April 1974, the year the new airline was formed from the merger of BOAC and BEA. It is seen here being towed into the massive and very impressive Heathrow BA maintenance hangar during the summer of 1975. After 25 years’ service it was eventually sold abroad in 1999.

Remark
Photographer
G-ARPH (cn 2108) Seen starting a noisy take off roll on 28L this Trident 1 served BEA and British Airways from 1964 until retirement in 1982. After many years of preservation at Cosford it was tragic that she was allowed to be scrapped in 2006 although the cockpit section was saved and is now on display at East Fortune. Scanned from a slide.
