N193DN (cn 28450/671) That morning we were instructed to join the hold over OCK (Ockham) for ten minutes delay. Just when turning outbound this B767 came out of the dark clouds 1000 feet below us. |

One of the most amazing approaches in the world, Hamilton Island located in the Whitsundays in Northern Queensland. The runway leaves little room for error in case of an undershoot or overshoot due to the water, definitely an amazing place to visit. |

RA-86140 (cn 51483211102) No more runway left = Must rotate! Look at where the 1000 ft marker sign and where the plane is! One heart-stopping takeoff! The front gear of the plane actually got up before the '1' marker but the body remains heavy. I think the pilots know exactly where to rotate. The Ilyushin also kicked up a large sandstorm on the beach and it was barely above it after finally airborne. IL86 is such a beast! [Nikon D2x, High speed crop mode] |

P*-M** Airplanes like the TAM A319 on approach into Santos Dumont will pass landmarks of the city: the Corcovado and Sugar Loaf (later) on a Rwy 02 approach. The photo did not fully capture the breathtaking spectacular approach I witnessed. I think SDU have been one of the most excited airport, the surroundings say enough. [Nikon D100] |

9V-SVI (cn 32316/412) Here's a another shot of runway 1R/19L. SQ B777 is seen here climbing out of Rwy 10L, having rotated just before the intersection with Rwy 1L/19R. Slightly above the horizon is AF A340 on final for 19L. Due to the wind condition today, SFO is using reverse configuration (19L/R for arrival and 10L/R for departure). It looked like a sunny day in the photo, but as the day progressed, the weather actually worsened. Later in the afternoon the rain moved in and they switched all landing and departure to 10L/R. |
