RA-86140 (cn 51483211102) No more runway left = Must rotate! Look at where the 1000 ft marker sign and where the plane is! One heart-stopping takeoff! The front gear of the plane actually got up before the '1' marker but the body remains heavy. I think the pilots know exactly where to rotate. The Ilyushin also kicked up a large sandstorm on the beach and it was barely above it after finally airborne. IL86 is such a beast! [Nikon D2x, High speed crop mode] |

9M-MRI (cn 28416/155) About 10 seconds after liftoff from runway 19R something happens with the left engine. Alot of smoke and fragments of metal and other material falls down on the runway. At first the pilots don't get any indications in the cockpit and plan to go on to Kuala Lumpur. Then we decide to call Arlanda duty officer to make sure that they have noticed the pieces from the engine on the runway. Shortly after that the pilots requests fueldump and return to ARN safely. N656US (cn 26847/486) WOW!!! I was taking some pictures at the end of Rwy 24 when this US Airways n/c came over shooting flames and making loud bangs. I counted 8 of them, and lucky for me, at least 3 times I got the fire on the photo with the result like this. Those people inside must have been shocked really hard with all those flames and bangs! btw: I like their new paintjob! [Camera: EOS 300D Lens: Canon 90-300mm] |
