N381HA (cn 1114) Passing the very famous Mauna Kea volcano and its telescope observatory at the summit. Located on the island of Hawaii (Big Island), this dormant volcano reaches an altitude of almost 14,000 feet making it Hawaii's highest peak and the world's tallest mountain measured from its base at the sea floor. The beautiful ocean, clear blue sky, and colorful winglet of our A332 make a nice contrast with the almost Martian-like landscape; it's hard to believe that this area (along with the peak of neighboring volcano, Mauna Loa) gets snow during the winter! |

As we make a left turn towards the US Mainland, you can get an excellent view of Honolulu; you can also see the Kahala area, several valleys, downtown, and the beautiful waves and beaches. Enroute from HNL-PHX on HA36. |

D-**** As the sun makes it way south just one month into autumn, it crosses the centerline of the 24’s, affording us this beautiful silhouette of a 346 in Lufthansa's fleet. Soon it will be the winter solstice, thus affording us another unique view of LAX. That’s the nice thing about weather… it ever changing. Local time is now 17:13PDT. |

G-VSEA (cn 003) VS12 to Heathrow is taking off from Logan's runway 9 shortly after the sun set. The timing couldn't have been more perfect. And the red sky and the piano keys reflecting on the fuselage are making the scene even more dramatic! Wow! [Canon EOS 40D, EF 300mm f/4.0 L IS USM lens] |

N22CB (cn 18502188) This Cessna 185 is sitting quiet but resting peacefully at the Lake Hood Seaplane Airport. As the lake is completely frozen during winter, the owner put his lovely airplane onto the lakeside which gave me this unique perspective. Low winter sun is rising just behind the airplane whereas the snow helps the shadow to brighten up. This is a full 12mm view which I think it is something interesting to show. Bright yellow color of this airplane gives this image a final touch. |

One of the most amazing approaches in the world, Hamilton Island located in the Whitsundays in Northern Queensland. The runway leaves little room for error in case of an undershoot or overshoot due to the water, definitely an amazing place to visit. |

N660AM (cn 25294/418) American Airlines flight 150 SFO-BOS turns to join the ILS APR for the active here at Boston’s, Logan Intl airport. The sun showers through the broken cloud layer just above the horizon as dawn breaks casting a brilliant orange glow over the ocean. Well done American for giving me one of the best long haul internals I’ve flown! |

N70529 (cn 49921/1752) Ship 529 waits for the ramp to reopen after the lightening subsides. This was a spectacular storm and I only went out to shoot pictures after about 30 minutes of nearly continuous lightening. Really a treat to watch, but not very conducive to a smooth operation. If anyone wonders why the ramp closes when lightening is in the area this should be explanation enough. This strike was just outside the perimeter fence but this storm produced hundreds of strikes within the fence, according to the detector equip. |
