And of course both head-up displays hinged down. |

PH-BGN (cn 38125/3584) Climbing up into the sunset aboard KL 1797 from Amsterdam to Munich at only 3:30pm local time makes me realize winter has arrived in the Northern hemisphere. The broken clouds reflecting on the upper surface of our wing and the rays of sunlight hitting the ground in the distance have me wide awake, even after a trans-atlantic crossing from New York's John F. Kennedy the previous night. It's a peaceful thing... just sitting there, gazing out at the fading light and having the world pass by below. |

VP-CBX (cn 511) By now you all probably know that the approach into Samedan is an amazing one, but this Gulf just beats what I've seen so far. Thanks to quite some crosswind it seems like he is heading in my direction which results in the ability to get a beautiful head-on shot of this Bizjet. This is a full colour photo and not manipulated at all. The sun was directly in line with the airplane approaching, that's why this fuselage is shadowed too, and thanks to the bright snow from below the full plane is lit perfectly, while the scenery is severely underexposed. Dedicated to f/o James C. |

PH-BFG / FG-003 (cn 24517/782) The "City of Guayaquil" is seen a hundred feet above the world famous Maho Beach and the sparkling clear waters of Sunset Bay chasing its shadow to the runway. This place takes photography to a whole new level when you can literally go for a swim or sip on a bottle of Carib while waiting for an aircraft. It's quite obvious that I was not the only one with a camera around here, but this young woman certainly appreciated being part of the photograph more than I would have. |

90-26230 (cn 70-1597) During the 920th Rescue Wing role demonstration at the 2011 edition of the Cocoa Beach airshow, this 308th Rescue Squadron HH-60 makes an attempt to show the public the various ways of extracting PJs from the water. Due to the high swells, rip currents and heave downdraft from the rotors, a wave breaks early, resulting in a wall of water engulfing the helicopter. The PJ never made it into the helicopter as the 'rescue’ was called off. |

It delivered and assembled the fourth starboard Integrated Truss Segment (S6), and the fourth set of solar arrays and batteries to the station. Misssion duration was 12 days, 19 hours, 29 minutes, 33 seconds. Here is the first few seconds as she clears the lightning rod and starts her acceleration to reach escape velocity. VH-VQK (cn 2651) Off the south coast of Borneo flying through high cloud associated with distant storm cells our A320 truly becomes an electric jet. Amazing display of static electricity flowing through our jet in relatively smooth air makes for an amazing sight and luckily had me gear along. EOS1DMK3 14/2.8 II |

CS-TKN (cn 624) This month of November had been really good for us spotters, with so many different things coming by!! Not being a different A/C, this one deserved some attention... These pilots were caught in some wind shear, and it was really close to total disaster, since the wing almost touched the ground! You can also see the stress in main landing gear... At that time, there were gusts up to 44 knots of crosswind, and heavy turbulence was reported! I'm glad that everything ended up well.. [Canon 40D + Sigma 120-400 |

J-008 (cn 6D-164) Ooh yes, this is definately the way to get the attention of the class ;-) I told the photographers onboard the Skyvan photoship to use a longer lens like 70-200mm to get that "in your face" look...well, I believe this is it! And it was a great day for vortexes too. I guess a number of photographers will hope to get a similar view during the Air-to-Air Academy courses & first Photoflying Days in May...well, you never know ;-) |

OV-103 (cn OV-103) Many journalists and photographers flock in front of the Launch Pad 39B to watch the service structure roll away from Discovery at 11:00 pm on July 12. It was truly a stunning moment when everyone was anxiously waiting for. As the initial launch attempt in the following day had been scrubbed because the fuel sensor in the external tank did not work properly, it finally had launched on July 26 -- the first Space Shuttle mission since Columbia's disaster 2 1/2 years ago which left the entire fleet grounded. |

B-2547 (cn 25176/2155) Filthy wing, dark, dirty, pollution—these could be some of the adjectives used to describe what’s unfolding right in this very photo. Sometimes, in flight window views don't always yield the most pleasant of scenes, but I think that they’re interesting nonetheless. Here is a view of a runway 21 approach into the old Guangzhou Baiyun Airport which has since been closed exactly a month and one day after this photo was taken. The dark, polluted, and somewhat uniform buildings make this photo quite depressing. It reminds me of a scene from a cold, stereotypical communist state during the Cold War; the city of Guangzhou today, however, has come a long way and will continue to modernize through the future. Go see for yourself! |

N52950 (cn 17274642) What a sight! Look at the magnificent Glacier! It looks as if the Ocean has instantly been frozen. For me, the imagination allows me to think that the high wing of Cessna 172 looks like a mast of sailboat. In a reality, our 172 is now flying over the Knik Glacier when the sun is about to set. Our friend former JSDF F-15 Commander Yuguchi brought my family to this sightseeing flight. He is now flying as a bush pilot with his Husky based Merrill Field. I am looking forward to fly with him this summer. |

N401WJ (cn 599) After a brief downpour, a nice puddle formed on the tarmac, leaving this nice photo opportunity. This sharp Gulfstream V, bathed nicely by the airport lights, rests quietly as heavy clouds drift above in the night skies, with the almost mirror-like reflection adding a final touch to the photo. Even though this shot left me soaked with aircraft oil, the result leaves me with no regrets! |
