N390TH / 297849/O-J (cn 8643) The Sperry ball turret was very small in order to reduce drag, and was typically operated by the shortest man of the crew. The gunner "sat" in the turret with their back and head against the rear wall, their hips at the bottom, and their legs held in mid-air by two footrests on the front wall.The Sperry ball turret could spin 360 degrees, making it impractical to store much ammunition outside the turret. |

N6123C (cn 108-47647) A truly well-polished engine nacelle as you can see. When I took this shot we were about to depart for an air-to-air shoot with the Red Bulls DC-6 and then continue to Innsbruck for the airport's open day, however we encountered a series of technical problems after take off, and I had to take the train back home... not the best outcome, but still a great day. Thanks to all involved! |

8327 (cn A1038327) The tail section of doubleseater MiG-23U nr. 8327, which crashed in 29th November 1996 near village Heralec. Crew of 41. slt (fighter squadron) from 4. zSL (fighter air force base) Caslav - Lt.Col. Jiri Trunecka and Major Drahoslav Mladek - was killed in this fatal catastrophy without attempting to ejection. Aircraft was delivered to Czechoslovakia airforce in 1982, since this year operated by the 28. sbolp (fighter-bomber air regiment), since 1983 by 1. slp (fighter air regiment) and last since 1995 by 4. slt. On the tail missing piece of cut out sheet metal with a picture of a rabbit with parachute. |
