PJ-WIS (cn 447) The Winair Twin Otters are island-hopping dawn to dusk, making travel between the various islands fast and effortless for people on business and of course tourists. It's 11-11-11 and here I am in the Caribbean, enjoying a beautiful day on the beach while everyone else back home is ready to hit the slopes after the first snow fell. It's still about 30°C on St. Maarten as this silhouetted Winair flight comes in over Maho beach with the waves rolling in and the sun setting in the distance out over the ocean. |

D-AIQN (cn 269) LH855 from HEL to FRA on "Laupheim", seat 22F. Classic early morning approach towards FRA from the east but with two twists! First, we're closer to the city due to the location of the new runway (25R). Second, it's not every day you see the famous Frankfurt skyline peeking through low fog. Laupheim had celebrated the 20th anniversary of its first flight less than a month before. [Nikon D700, AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm f/4G ED VR lens] |

VH-EBQ (cn 1198) For me it's difficult to sleep during a flight.. So, instead I was stargazing and noticed the milky way band out of my window as we were passing Australia en route Auckland. Notice how the slats reflect off some stars. It's absolutely beautiful and I'm glad i didn't sleep! By the way this A332 frame is brand spanking new (manufactured in Feb. 2011)[Nikon D3s; Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8; ISO 12,800; 5-second exposure] |

UR-82060 (cn 19530503763) A nice symmetrical view from behind. The verticals stabilizers are the size of a smaller aircraft's wings. The oversized cargo it was picking up on Boxing Day can be seen on trailers on the left. Note how the aircraft is parked on a taxiway and not on a hardstand because of its size. |

N106US (cn 1044) [Canon 1D Mark III + Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L] Continuing its historic move to the Carolinas Aviation Museum, the "Miracle on the Hudson" aircraft travels down I-95 in Newark, DE. Earlier in the day, N106US crossed the Delaware Memorial Bridge from New Jersey. The additional logos on the fuselage are companies helping sponsor the move, and if you look closely, the white support vehicle is branded in a US Airways colors. This is my 500th photo in the database. |
