N512MC (cn 21220/294) Ah, the moon! Atlas Air B747 has just arrived at the designated parking space, and seems to start enjoying the moon rise while refueling. Southern Air B.747 (N746SA) parks behind. Setting sun illuminates the peaks of mountains beautifully whereas the ground does not completely turn dark which is usually the case of snow. I wish you could smell the holy atmosphere that I felt at the moment. In a reality, I think it might be a good idea to take my way back now before the road will completely freeze again. |

N607AS (cn 29751/313) The "Timbers Jet" 737 celebrates Alaska Airlines' pride in being both the official airline and official jersey sponsor of the Portland Timbers. The plane's design was the result of a contest among Timbers fans and is actually a combination of two grand prize winning designs. Alaska had a crew of 18 worked around the clock for 16 days to paint the plane, using 130 gallons of paint, around 4,500 sheets of sandpaper and 51,000 feet of masking tape. |

NC91006 (cn 20208) I had just found out about this and had to go investigate. This aircraft was delivered to the USAAF on May 5, 1944 as 43-15742. It was acquired by Alaska AL as NC91006 in 1946, and crashed on Jan 20, 1949. Unfortunately 5 POB lost their lives. It is located at its exact impact point about 35 miles north north east of Homer, AK. It's amazing the clarity of the registration on the wing after 54 years. |

PH-AJU / 44 (cn 1286) Upon working my way up from Avalon, Victoria to Canberra ACT, I stopped by Albury Airport and saw this rather sad looking DC-2 replica (Originally Ex RAAF A30-11) of the former Royal Dutch Airlines, KLM, "Uiver" (meaning 'Stork'). It lies dormant at the airport awaiting funding for restoration. The original aircraft came second in the MacRobertson Air Race between London and Melbourne in October 1934. |
