Remark
Photographer
60-0059 / LA (cn 464424) 96th BS, 2nd BW, Barksdale AFB, Louisiana. 'Doom 11' seen here hugging the ground after lifting off during a practice approach at RAF Fairford, quite a sight with that distinctive B-52 nose-down take off

Remark
Photographer
82-1068 / WM (cn 1003/AV-3) The things you do for the hobby! This B-2A was photographed arriving at RIAT 2012 on a dark Friday evening in the pouring rain. The result was worth it though!

Z**** Face-to-face with the mighty Tornado, blasting off from Lossie. Its playmate can be just seen through the sea of jetwash powering up at the other end of the runway.

Houston - Ellington Field (AFB) (EFD)
USA - Texas, October 31, 2009
Remark
Photographer
162411 (cn 0243/A193) Shockwave's Schlieren effect! Air compressed by jet's pressure wave so light is bent thus this phenomenon. Awkward crop due to jet out racing panning with a handheld Canon 1Ds MKIII + 600m L IS lens. Schlieren techniques have been used for decades in laboratory wind tunnels to visualize supersonic flow about model aircraft, but not full scale aircraft until recently. Dr. Leonard Weinstein of NASA Langley Research Center developed the first Schlieren camera but this picture is using a normal camera.
