We had just passed through the rainy season, which gave us an incredible view of the coral reflection. Those clouds were also affected by the coral reflection. Isn't that amazing? AP-BCD (cn 23297/1122) It all started for this new airline company Emirates in 1985 and I was able to see their single airplane (leased from PIA) on Boxing day in 1985. In a few years Emirates would operate the biggest fleet of Airbus A380s. |

A6-ERP (cn 185) Looks like an architect's scale model down there! I had this stunning overview of Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai, with the Burj Khalifa easily dwarfing everything else in sight. Also visible: the Dubai Mall (the world's largest shopping mall by area - to the right of the Burj Khalifa), the Dubai Fountain (in the artificial lake at the bottom of the Burj Khalifa), the Emirates Towers and Sharjah in the distance. 9V-SFM (cn 32898/1333) The right main wheel blew out on landing and the Captain used maximum reverse thrust to slow her down. Shown in this photo is a combination of smoke from the burning rubber and a massive amount of dust from the reversers. The Airport fire trucks followed this aircraft but were not needed and I must say this was a very exciting photo to capture. |
