RP-C7250 (cn 779) Dangerously low, this ATR was actually in level flight when i viewed my sequence of shots, the white perimeter fence seen is approximately 3 feet in height, this aircraft only just cleared the fence to which i did not think at this moment would be possible. A Zest airline aircraft hit this fence only a couple of months earlier in a similar approach with persons injured on board. |

9829 Photo scanned from a slide, obtained from the archives of Groningen Airport Eelde. It flew for the first time in 1977, so I'm guessing this photo was taken in the late 70's. Was quite surprised when I found it, since I never knew such a design ever existed. I have to say though, getting hold of some of the photos I found in the archives made my whole day! |

N19904 (cn 1997) Formerly owned/used by Howard Hughes (bought 1939 TWA). One of 10 307s built. First high-altitude commercial and first four-engine airliner in scheduled domestic service. Total of 500 flight hours over 25 years until hurricane damage in 1964. In 1974, wings/tail off, and fuselage converted motor yacht. The “plane-boat” features twin V-8 inboards incorporating the original aircraft cockpit controls that were used to fly the plane, propelling the vessel over 20 mph. Shame or glory? I am not sure. Only in Miami! |

N80FA (cn 10273/7) Working at Southend Airport in the 'Seventies produced some great opportunities. Just before N80FA departed on its ferry flight to Texas, I was able to fix up an air-to-air session from Cessna 172 G-ATLN. We flew as fast as possible, the Carvair as slow as it could with everything down. I can still hear those P&Ws roaring over the sound of my open window and the general racket in the Cessna. I even sold my car to one of the Falcon directors who duly loaded and flew home to the States with it - truly Car-via-air as Freddie Laker originally intended. This aircraft crashed in Alaska in 1997 as N103; another of the few remaining Carvairs suffered a similar fate up there in May 2007, so now only two survive. |

N388LS (cn 293A-1249) A special, special aircraft and moment for me. I turned up to the airport, to meet my best friend, KC. We drove around and saw this beauty parked. We imagined that possibly, hopefully it would leave at some point in the day. KC had to leave to catch SQ11 to SIN. He wished me luck that I would get this oh so rare frame. When I saw it being towed out for departure, I was over the moon. I never thought that in 2010 I would have a chance to photogaph an L1011 in action. One word : WOW!! [Nikon D3] |

G-AOHT (cn 168) A busy pier on a dull day at MAN with five classic types and an excellent opportunity to compare the noses of the Caravelle and Comet. It is often mentioned that Sud-Est used the Comet nose when designing the SE.210. Indeed there was co-operation leading to the noses of the first two prototypes being direct copies and those thereafter very similar including cockpit layout. |

N905NA (cn 20107/86) 1358 GMT (9:58 a.m. EDT). Touchdown! Discovery is back home. The left main gear impacted first followed by the right. The nose wheel is still up as aerodynamic braking is always useful when one carries a load like this. Welcome home Discovery! |
