Overview from the air of this small airstrip in the Israeli desert. This is not a standard airfield. Also, the runway is not active for aviation every day, sometimes when there is no activity of the airplanes, the bedouin from the area uses on the runway for cars racing... So, you can see many kinds of signs on the runway without any relevance to the airplanes... |

VH-PCT (cn 230) The famous Shute Harbour approach between the mountains into RWY 14. As you can see the mountain on the right hand side clearly cuts into the flight path. A calm day today but the next morning the winds were blowing which creates some server wind shear. Pilots require 100hours total time to operate in and out. |

9N-ADM (cn 95640) A fantastic and spectacular Airfield at 3800m. There may be thick clouds all day, or more than 10 landings on a busy day. Most of the traffic is Mil 8/17 transporting cargo. They often perform rolling landings, even with tailwind. The Airfield was built to accomodate Pilatus Porters, but unfortunately all of Nepals Porters have crashed. |

We had to follow the An-12 that is still on the runway, through the Kabul valley. Not too hard since she left a huge smoke trail for us to follow. Ahead of the runway are the suburbs of Kabul, the huge hills and beyond those you can clearly see the icy peaks of the HinduKush mountains (19.000ft ASL). Imagine the performance calculations needed for a heavy departure! What a view. |

Spectacular view of the Venice Lido airport while circling at 1.000ft, waiting to get our clearence to pass the runway extension of the close and more busy Venice Tessera airport. Built in 1909 was used mainly by military bombers during WWI and WWII. It then served as civil airport until the mid '50 when all the traffic moved to the near Tessera airport. The beauty of Venice and its lagoon fits perfectly as background. |

Without a doubt, the most beautiful airport setting in the World! The airport was opened during World War II. The small cross runway built by US Air Force can be seen at the lower right. The airport is located on a "Motu". A boat transfer is necessary to get to the main island of Bora Bora. I was very lucky to be able to get this aerial photo after my flight was delayed and I bumped into Tahiti Helicopter pilot who agreed to take me for a ride! Dedicate the photo to my wife, Vicki. The legendary aerodrome of Tarfaya - Cap Juby where the "Aeropostale" pioneers were making a technical stop. This aerodrome opens once a year to let the participants to the rally "Toulouse - Tarfaya - Toulouse" land on this mythic RWY made of hard sand. Around the RWY, there is only soft sand, making it impossible to park there. The only place to park the airplanes is on the hard RWY sides! So, pilots are forced to take-off between the airplanes like the Cirrus here... No tire burst allowed ! |

PH-FZG (cn 20202) This airport is not as famous as St. Maarten but just as exciting and deserves some attention. This photo is taken just after the popular picture 931289. Must be quite a view from the small boats in the water! |

An old drug runners paradise, Norman's cay. Pablo Escobar used this island as a half way point to smuggle cocaine into the United States, around the island you can find planes ditched into the ocean and the pine trees. Now Norman's Cay has been cleaned up and is a great spot to go and lie on the beach. The runway is still wet from an earlier rain shower and in terrible condition with many potholes and cracks in it. A Bahamian version of my Cedar Key overview. |

Flying in the mountains gave me a ton of photo oppertunities. This is possibly the coolest, located at the top of a mountain near Asheville the airport elevation is 4,400 feet and the tallest part of the mountain was 6,000 feet. You need permission to land there but it looks like there is a nice resort and golf course next to it. Notice the vibrant colours of the leaves as they start to turn. |

One of the most beautiful scenes I've ever seen in my short life! Dramatic scenery, rain, sun, shadows, a nice deep blue Caribbean sea, the beach, a runway! A real treat to fly and spot next to my uncle, special thanks to the crew! Copy is on your way! |

Photo were taken while performing a runway 20 approach after a rain show. The fast moving clouds in the far side plus with the beautiful airport scence made this one a superbe photo.Note a Sichuan Airbus was holding for taking off after our clearance of the runway. Special Thanks to Islam_ Chen and Andy Zhang to make this photo possible. |

9N-AJH (cn 8198) Welcome to Lukla, Tenzing-Hillary Airport, Nepal situated at 9,100 feet above sea level. This is also the World's Most Dangerous Airport. Accident happened frequently with a downhill sloping runway (12% gradient) make things very interesting. Aircraft use runway 06 only for landings and runway 24 for takeoffs. Due to the terrain, there is no prospect of a successful go-around on short final. One word: Spectacular! [Nikon D300] |

This small airfield became operational on the 28th April 1941. The RAF flew Spitfires from here during WWII and was decommissioned in April 1946. These days it is used for much more leisurely pursuits such as the Cornish Parachute Centre and private flying. |
