Seville (- San Pablo) (SVQ / LEZL)
Spain, July 20, 2004
Remark
Photographer
20 miles to the airport, an absorbed-in-other-things stork struck this aircraft causing what you can see here. It didn't affect navigation, so they landed smoothly. Radar was the only thing they lost. It remained unuseful. Birds are not so cute as they try to appear...[aircraft ID withheld on request of photographer, Ed.].

South Africa, January 17, 2006
Remark
Photographer
ZS-SJS (cn 32632/1205) On a flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town, this leading edge slat would not retract. All the attempts by the pilots to recycle the flaps did not work, so we had to fly to Cape Town at a slower speed and lower altitude. According to the co-pilot who has contacted me, this has never before happened on a 737-800 and Boeing is investigating the incident.

82-0010 (cn 822/C241) Now this was quite a sight to see. At touchdown the left main tire of this F-15C suffered a blow out. A stream of smoke could be seen coming off the tire. In this shot the Eagle began to veer more and more to the left and the tire began to shred. Job well done to the Eagle driver for keeping control of the aircraft. 44th FS

Remark
Photographer
9V-SFM (cn 32898/1333) The right main wheel blew out on landing and the Captain used maximum reverse thrust to slow her down. Shown in this photo is a combination of smoke from the burning rubber and a massive amount of dust from the reversers. The Airport fire trucks followed this aircraft but were not needed and I must say this was a very exciting photo to capture.

N364FE (cn 46600/4) Two years ago this little mishap occurred at MEM. This is what the NTSB concluded - "1) the first officer's failure to properly apply crosswind landing techniques to align the airplane with the runway centerline and to properly arrest the airplane's descent rate (flare) before the airplane touched down; and 2) the captain's failure to adequately monitor the first officer's performance and command or initiate corrective action during the final approach and landing."

156 white (cn 2960905556) Tailstrike!! One of the stars of this years RIAT, at the end of Sunday's display the pilot put the aircraft down hard and it bounced in the air before touching down again. It was only when looking at my shots later on I realised that the jetpipes had touched the runway, creating a shower of sparks. It can only have happened for a split second, as nobody nearby seemed to notice it either!

Carlos said that the cylinder protruding through the cowling was a front row cylinder but that it was protruding through the rear of the cowling above the rear row of cylinders. Gotta wonder what’s going on here?

CS-TKN (cn 624) This month of November had been really good for us spotters, with so many different things coming by!! Not being a different A/C, this one deserved some attention... These pilots were caught in some wind shear, and it was really close to total disaster, since the wing almost touched the ground! You can also see the stress in main landing gear... At that time, there were gusts up to 44 knots of crosswind, and heavy turbulence was reported! I'm glad that everything ended up well.. [Canon 40D + Sigma 120-400

9M-MRI (cn 28416/155) About 10 seconds after liftoff from runway 19R something happens with the left engine. Alot of smoke and fragments of metal and other material falls down on the runway. At first the pilots don't get any indications in the cockpit and plan to go on to Kuala Lumpur. Then we decide to call Arlanda duty officer to make sure that they have noticed the pieces from the engine on the runway. Shortly after that the pilots requests fueldump and return to ARN safely.
