The airport is located on a "Motu". A boat transfer is necessary to get to the main island of Bora Bora. Runway 23R has recently been resurfaced, and apparently is no longer grooved, drainage being achieved by standing water being absorbed by the new porous material. As a result, water stays longer on the runway surface. |
