F-AZHK / 127002/20-LN (cn 7802) Quite a story for that Skyraider : Built in 1951 in Douglas plant El Secundo, CA for the US Navy (BuNo 127002), stored in Litchfield Park, AZ and then sold to French AF in 1959 for ground attack purposes in mainly in Algeria. Assigned in 1972 to the Guard of Gabonese President Omar Bongo and reformed 1976. It came back in France in 1992 and was stored after engine failure. Sold to its present owner in 2009, flights resumed in 2010 after major revision including an engine change. Seen here during evening training before the airshow |

63-7460 (cn 439) Just out from one of the four shelters and waiting for the line crew to clear the aircraft. The wings are just unfolding. On the F-4C this was controlled from the cockpit like on the USN versions, but on the F-4E it was a manual operation. The four shelters are still standing, but have not been used for storing aircraft since the last F-4E left in 1985. |

I was 16 at the time and it was like being in a candy store. Brownie Starflex Camera fixed lens. |
