AP-BHP (cn 665) Overview of Gilgit airport, situated at 4,900 feet above sea level in Northern Pakistan. The airport is famous for its visual scenic approach. Currently only PIA ATR-42 and Air Force C-130 serve the airport regularly. Please enjoy a moment of the calm scenery from my picture. LV-MLO (cn 21725/349) Previously in Aerolineas Argentinas colors, now wearing full Flying Tigers colors with Argentine registration. This "Freedom Bird" is used to transport military personnel to Pacific bases and back. First flight was December 8, 1978. Delivery date was January 13, 1979. Other serials - N1789B with Boeing Company, LV-MLO with Aerolineas Argentinas, and also N889FT with Flying Tigers. WFU at EZE during October 2002 for parts. |

OV-104 (cn OV-104) First sunrise on Earth for Atlantis not long after landing at 05:57:54 EDT. The support vehicles are all hooked up and running the onboard systems. The astros have been taken off and the support staff take the opportunity to mill around the orbiter for one last time on the runway. There were a lot more people on the runway as per past landings to welcome her and celebrate the final landing of the STS program. |

ZS-HJA (cn 1619) Hoisting salvage equipment from the 164m long bulk carrier Phoenix, the Phoenix broke moorings in bad weather a few days earlier and ran aground just north of Ballito on the KZN north coast, the tanker was bound for a scrapyard in India. It is hoped to have her refloated on August 30th, spring tides. |
