HL7615 (cn 075) A shot that is normally not possible, as the visitor's terrace closes at 6pm, which is unfortunately before most of the 'heavies' leave. But thanks to their reopening festivities they had longer opening times for one weekend in march. I could not miss this chance, although it was really cold on that day. VH-OQJ (cn 062) The world's first dual A380 flyover happened today in Sydney. Flying in close formation, this occasion marked the official start of a historic partnership between Qantas Airways and Emirates. The flyover was done under a special call sign "Seismic", as Tim Clark says the EK-QF partnership had caused seismic shift in the global aviation. Interestingly, Delta-Yankee disappeared from the radar after takeoff - was the TCAS system switched off? I quite like how the two prominent tails aligns one another. |

G-VBLU (cn 723) In a perfect world (at least for photographers) the sun would shine all the time. But as it isn't, a little rain must fall every now and then. Case in point this rainy Saturday afternoon at LAX. Florian Trojer was visiting from Innsbruck and the majority of his stay looked just like this. Sometimes that's just the way things happens. G-VWIN (cn 736) Ah…. summer time at LAX. There is always a cool breeze off the ocean to mix up the smells. By that I mean the smell of hamburgers cooking, the smell of the ocean not more than a couple of miles away. Oh, and let’s not forget that wonderful smell of burning rubber as the heavies hit the runway. Wonderful smells… for some of us. Here we see VS 23 passing the In-N-Out, as several young children pause to watch her pass before heading inside to have a burger. Local time 17:59. |

G-VEIL (cn 575) One good thing I can say about our winter so far this year (from a photographer standpoint) is that we have had little rain, and beautiful clear skies with warm daytime temperatures. That's a great recipe for shots like the one above. This shot was taken on the other side of the hedge (south) from the small park, where Sepulveda Blvd. intersects with Lincoln Blvd. Wow, there's nothing better than having one of these babies pass over you at 200ft above! She kind of reminds me of a DC-8-73 from this angle. |

EC-JLE (cn 702) Recently the airport commission recommended moving 24R – 6L 260ft (79.248M) to the north of where it is now to add a center taxiway. Consequently, if it happens, shots like the one above will take on a whole new look. The experience of dining on a burger will take on a new feel too, as the big ones will be right above you! HL7614 (cn 068) It was a beautiful late winter morning and KE-17 was running about 30 minutes early today. From this great vantage point (corner triangle of Lincoln & Sepulveda) the jets pass about 200ft (60M) right above you, about 8 seconds from TD on 24R. The sound is an experience in its own. Overwhelming, but in a good way, and never to the point that it hurt my ears. Something I think everyone should experience sooner… or later. Local time 8:26 PST. |
