9M-MRI (cn 28416/155) About 10 seconds after liftoff from runway 19R something happens with the left engine. Alot of smoke and fragments of metal and other material falls down on the runway. At first the pilots don't get any indications in the cockpit and plan to go on to Kuala Lumpur. Then we decide to call Arlanda duty officer to make sure that they have noticed the pieces from the engine on the runway. Shortly after that the pilots requests fueldump and return to ARN safely. N957AX (cn 47759/871) Simply amazing...I got off of work and was bored and decided to go out and try shooting at night for the first time, and obviously it was a great idea. Looking down at the cargo ramp the ground crew of "ABX179" (N957AX) were still loading up this baby 9 as a cold front was moving in on TUL from the north. "UPS 741" has its engines running and is ready to taxi to 36R to get out before the Tstrms move in. In the distance a AA MD-80 is slowing down on 36R after arriving from DFW. [20D/18-55] |
