JA8542 (cn 47825/310) In the days before airbridges, the only way to deplane was via stairs. Airbridges became necessary as commercial avation introduced widebody aircraft. Kai Tak, with limited space for development, was caught in a time warp, as widebodies became the norm yet there was no space for development. I-ADCD (cn 664) After taking off for Venice the pilot reported smoke in the cabin and returned to MUC. Reportedly it was smoke out of the broken right engine that was sucked into the cabin by the air conditioning system. After landing the plane suddenly ran off the runway into the field where after a few leaps the nose landing gear collapsed. The picture shows evacuation in progress seconds after the plane stopped. Today is the 20th anniversary of MUC airport by the way. |

Flying in the mountains gave me a ton of photo oppertunities. This is possibly the coolest, located at the top of a mountain near Asheville the airport elevation is 4,400 feet and the tallest part of the mountain was 6,000 feet. You need permission to land there but it looks like there is a nice resort and golf course next to it. Notice the vibrant colours of the leaves as they start to turn. |
