VX195 / P (cn 1249) The Tudor 8 was a conversion from Tudor 4 G-AGST and was fitted with four Rolls-Royce Nene 4 turbojets, first flying thus on 6 September 1948. It was demonstrated at that year's Farnborough Air Show. This one-off type was fitted with a tailwheel undercrriage, and was developed into the tri u/c Avro 706 Ashton. VX195 was broken up in 1951. From Avros 60 years ago.

NX223Y (cn 1137) The forerunner of all Douglas Commercials. The sole DC-1 on the day of its first flight from Santa Monica - 1 July 1933. Note the initial aerodynamic strut between fuselage and engine cowling - soon deleted. At date of image, the aircraft was owned by Douglas Aircraft. Quickly passed to TWA for airline tests. From Douglas 60 years ago - this is the earliest image on Airliners.net of the company's aircraft.

N715NA (cn 2) Following its appearance at the 1983 Paris Air Show, NASA's QSRA N715NA staged through RAF Leuchars en route to the United States. Originally ordered as a DeHaviland Canada CV-7 Buffalo with the serial 63-13687, it was delivered to the USAF as a C-8A. Transferred to NASA as N715NA and converted to Quiet Short-Haul Research Aircraft.
