57***** A 416th Bombardment Wing B-52 passes over Rabbit Road outside the perimeter fence on takeoff. Spewing the dark smoke trails that accompany the use of water injection (making cooler, denser air in the compression and combustion chambers and increasing thrust) for a heavyweight takeoff, this BUFF bears the dark green/dark gray Strategic Scheme, which also affords a seldom seen view of steam venting from the undersides of the engine nacelles due to the water injection. |
