RA-86140 (cn 51483211102) No more runway left = Must rotate! Look at where the 1000 ft marker sign and where the plane is! One heart-stopping takeoff! The front gear of the plane actually got up before the '1' marker but the body remains heavy. I think the pilots know exactly where to rotate. The Ilyushin also kicked up a large sandstorm on the beach and it was barely above it after finally airborne. IL86 is such a beast! [Nikon D2x, High speed crop mode] |

N752SA (cn 21255/295) Is taking off using the full length of Rwy 32 at Anchorage. Snow on the ground was blown up by the jet blast created by four CF6s. You might also notice that some fractured ice (that I presume) falling down from the main gear are captured. As I was aware that this location makes me backlit, I intended to take this image which was already completed in my mind before I click the shutter. It depicts the grace of flight and majesty of B.747 I would say. We are in 20F allowing us to capture such a crisp image. |

9V-SPQ (cn 28025/1289) With tremendous force and a pair of flexing wings, this heavy Singapore Airlines B744 powers out from runway 25R bound for NRT and SIN as SQ11. During the course of the Thanksgiving weekend, I finally caught the Singapore Airlines jumbos at LAX, as on my previous trips they parked at TBIT-north. The SQ jumbos are now history at LAX as the B77Ws took over this route in April 2011 instead of the intended A380, due the March 11 disasters in Japan. The SQ A380, however, is still scheduled to make its long awaited debut into LAX on July 1, 2011. |
