A6-EDF (cn 007) What a beautiful evening it was! As the giant whale comes into light at a cloudy 'Row, shiny silver sections start glowing in the sun as it glides in on very final approach to runway 27L. Even from this tilted angle the GP7000 engines look still tremendously huge that carry the sleek heavy metal all around safely. It is said this type of engine produces less than 75g of carbon dioxyide emission per passenger and kilometer - almost half of the European target for cars manufactured in 2008. |

TF-ELK (cn 059) Flying by the side of the then dormant and peaceful glacier/volcano Eyjafjallajokull, the ATR looks very much at ease. Not so if this was taken today, as now the white glacier is black with ash, the dust column from the eruption has been seen by millions around the world, and it has caused the greatest disruption to organised flight operations since flying began. But the life of most if the inhabitants is very little affected by this event. A few farms and villages in the close vicinity have had problems. |

I have no idea what the NCA pilots tried to achieve as they only departed from runway 7L to make a left turn heading for Japan which eventually encountered with China Airlines 747 departing from runway 32 (longest runway which all the heavies departed from on that day). As this was the last day/event of the fiesta called 'Mass Ascension,' due to the shower passed through the area at the break of dawn, most of special shape balloons have canceled the flight. Southern Air B.747 (N746SA) parks behind. Setting sun illuminates the peaks of mountains beautifully whereas the ground does not completely turn dark which is usually the case of snow. I wish you could smell the holy atmosphere that I felt at the moment. In a reality, I think it might be a good idea to take my way back now before the road will completely freeze again. |

Without a doubt, the most beautiful airport setting in the World! The airport was opened during World War II. The small cross runway built by US Air Force can be seen at the lower right. The airport is located on a "Motu". A boat transfer is necessary to get to the main island of Bora Bora. I was very lucky to be able to get this aerial photo after my flight was delayed and I bumped into Tahiti Helicopter pilot who agreed to take me for a ride! Dedicate the photo to my wife, Vicki. PH-BFG / FG-003 (cn 24517/782) The "City of Guayaquil" is seen a hundred feet above the world famous Maho Beach and the sparkling clear waters of Sunset Bay chasing its shadow to the runway. This place takes photography to a whole new level when you can literally go for a swim or sip on a bottle of Carib while waiting for an aircraft. It's quite obvious that I was not the only one with a camera around here, but this young woman certainly appreciated being part of the photograph more than I would have. |

PP-VJC (cn 10) Delivered in 1959, this Caravelle is seen just three or four months before being sold abroad. It then travelled to France, Vietnam, Lebanon and Morroco before being donated to the Central African Republic as TL-AAI with whom it ended its days at Paris-Orly. OE-GBB (cn 3078) We're almost about to 'call it a day' as we are descending from our cruising altitude and prepare to dive into the valley for a dusk arrival into a stormy Innsbruck on runway 08. Even though being an ambulance flight helps extremely - as ATC usually gives you 'direct-to' routings all across Europe - we still spent eight hours in our turboprop by now. VH-EBQ (cn 1198) For me it's difficult to sleep during a flight.. So, instead I was stargazing and noticed the milky way band out of my window as we were passing Australia en route Auckland. Notice how the slats reflect off some stars. It's absolutely beautiful and I'm glad i didn't sleep!
