Two other recently-arrived ex-Spanair A320s were parked elsewhere on the airport. Many aircraft leasing companies are based in Ireland. N103CK (cn 193N-1212) Result of an aborted take off with full load from Panama in 1998. What really happened was that No.2 engine surged at take off. No.3 engine was EGT limited and could not handle a power increase. Therefore, the captain had to abort the take off. Fuse plugs blew in only 7 tires not 8 as has been reported (see pic). COPA maintenance assisted with the tire changes using inadequate 737 jacks. No.2 engine was changed and N103CK was flown back to Miami. |

EC-HKN (cn 1347) Too low!!!! I was shooting a/c on Rwy 20 when I realised that this 320 was approaching way too low and turned the camera to capture it. Fortunately the truck driver hit the brakes before passing below! As you can see, you can get really close to the action here. Despite the 'foggy shot', it is clearly visible that landing at JFK at 5pm is not a good idea...as our TWA flight had to do 2 HOLDS and THEN pass over JFK to land!! Looks like just about every gate (over 80+) is occupied and remote stands are filling up fast. |

B-HOR (cn 24631/771) Double treat: I have seen many F16s, F15s do side by side landing but this was unusual. MX A320 descended on glideslope from 3500 AGL for Rwy 24R while CX 744 did same from 2200 AGL for Left side. Cathay 744 was told to hold 170 kts steady so MX can land just a bit ahead. And the result was perfect approach with spectacular results. |
