JA783A / 30518 (cn 27940/737) After all the excitement and media attention around Dulles with Space Shuttle Discovery flying in on the back of a 747, it's worth taking a look at what really makes this airport great. Dulles boasts an extensive network of international routes giving Northern Virginia and neighboring District of Columbia vital connections to cities around the globe. Here, All Nippon 1 to Tokyo-Narita crawls down the North Ramp for a 1R departure. |

G-TUIA (cn 34422/92) Clouds may have covered 2013’s Paine Field Aviation Day, but the crowd got dramatic performances from the flying displays, an AN-124, a Dreamlifter, a 77W delivery flight, and several test flights – including this one for Thomson’s first 787. Departing for a test flight over the Olympic peninsula as BOE317. |

LX-VCB (cn 35806/1423) First visit for a 747-8F, and Cargolux to Montreal. And it arrived smack in the middle of a huge snowstorm with little to no visibility. Thanks to Yulspotter for letting me use his ladder. |

G-AOHT (cn 168) A busy pier on a dull day at MAN with five classic types and an excellent opportunity to compare the noses of the Caravelle and Comet. It is often mentioned that Sud-Est used the Comet nose when designing the SE.210. Indeed there was co-operation leading to the noses of the first two prototypes being direct copies and those thereafter very similar including cockpit layout. |

A7-BAQ (cn 38247/910) An incredible view as this B773ER is about to reach gate 52 and complete its long journey from Doha as QR 927. Look at how the huge GE90-115B are sucking up the snow! The conditions were courtesy of the huge winter storm that shut down the northeast for two days. [Nikon D700, AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm f/4G ED VR lens] |
