5Y-TAJ (cn 108) This old airstrip in Bahr el Gazal province in South Sudan was originally used in the relief effort "Operation Lifeline Sudan" (OLS). It had become overgrown, but was cleared early in 2004 so flights could land there. The Buffalo (owned by Trident Enterprises) appeared out of a blue sky in the morning, picked up a few people, and flew off to Lokichoggio in Kenya. |

ZS-RSI (cn 382-4600) The Paris-Dakar @ Antonov Street, Tichit, Mauritainia. The Herc' carried the huge sattelite dish, which can be seen alongside it. It was also fitted out with an air-conditioned edit suite, hence the inflatable door entry thingy. The Skyvan was used each night as a backdrop for most TV interviews broadcast round the globe. The blue press tent can be seen next to the nearest Enimex and a few motorbikes are visible behind two of the gazproms over on the left. |
