Lufthansa
Convair 340-...
Garden City - Mitchel AFB (Mitchel Field) (closed)
USA - New York, May 8, 2010
Remark
Photographer
N***** The Cradle of Aviation Museum. This nose been recently repainted from United to Lufthansa colors. It may have come from N24AT (c/n 148) which was put in storage at Islip-Long Island MacArthur by 1993, and was last seen there in 1996. The airport is not far from the museum and it's likely that N24AT was scrapped there with its nose section being preserved. (I'm grateful to Aad van der Voet for this information.) [Canon EOS 40D, EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens, Speedlite 580EX II / 430EX II flashes]

USA - Air Force
Convair NC-131H TIFS (580)
Dayton - Wright-Patterson AFB (Wright AFB) (DWF) (closed)
USA - Ohio, June 29, 2009
Remark
Photographer
N793VS (cn 245) National Museum of the USAF. In the late 1960s the USAF converted a C-131B into a NC-131H Total In-Flight Simulator (TIFS). The aircraft could be configured with 2 different noses. The first one was a 2 person cockpit from which onboard computers simulated the handling of various aircraft. The second nose could carry a wide array of radars, cameras and other sensors. During its career the TIFS simulated many military, NASA and civilian aircraft including the Space Shuttle. (Canon 40D + 17-55 IS + 430EX)

Contract Air Cargo
Convair 5800
Fort Wayne - International (Baer Field) (FWA / KFWA)
USA - Indiana, January 24, 2005
Remark
Photographer
N381FL (cn 276) Probably the first overhead panel shot of a Convair 5800. It's kindof unusual to see a COM radio and GPS on the overhead. There are a few other interesting switches visible as well. [Canon Digital Rebel]
