Untitled (Cargolux)
Boeing 747-4B5(BCF)
Off-Airport - Kemble
UK - England, June 25, 2012
Remark
Photographer
LX-ACV (cn 24200/748) Cargolux Flight CV777 from Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson to Luxembourg Findel is seen here at 38,975’ over north Wiltshire heading 095 degrees and 547 knots (629 mph) a very high speed for a 747. I was sorry to have just missed its transit across the face of the moon. The picture was taken from my mother’s garden in Kemble. (60D; 400mm)

Remark
Photographer
HB-JMC (cn 546) Contrails are basically artificial clouds, visible trails of condensed water vapour, made by the exhaust of aircraft engines. As the hot exhaust gases cool in the surrounding air they may precipitate a cloud of microscopic water droplets. If the air is cold enough, this trail will comprise tiny ice crystals.

USA - California, August 9, 2013
Remark

VH-OQI (cn 055) Three things I have seen before but never all at the same time: night flying, condensation on the wings, and rainbows. This time the airplane's own landing lights are scattering through the condensation, producing a rainbow of sorts! Qantas 94 off to Melbourne via 24L. 135mm f/2 1/40s ISO 4000, handheld.
